Making the voice chat accessible to dial up users. Who's interested?

I have dial up internet and wanted to use the voice chat service. I have heard other people mention the same thing. If your interested reply to this topic.

I'm sure that something can be done, because some servers have what they call dial-up relay. It can be a pain in the ass, because of delays and stuff, but it's possible. Basically what happens is, is that the dial-up users would be on a seperate server and there would be a broadband connection on that server which would take what is being said on the dial-up server, and retransmit it in the server where all the broadband people hang out. I'm not sure how difficult it is to set-up, but it has been done before.

Hello. As it stands now, we could do Ventrilo on dial-up, but it would be a separate server. The broadband people culd use either, but the two wouldn't be linked together. If this would be wanted by you guys, we can put it up as a test.

i think its only fair to have a dial up server to and if someone wants to act as a dial up relay more power to them they'd need 2 soundcards and a spair machine with both cards but for the people running this its unpractical
